The story of Africa’s Adventures began in 1985, on the banks of the Zambezi River. At the time, safari travel was often limited to rigid group tours and predictable itineraries. But our founder, Daniel Mercer, a wildlife photographer with a deep respect for Africa’s people and landscapes, imagined something different.
With no large-scale operation or travel network — just determination, curiosity, and a love for Africa, Daniel began leading small, private safaris. Every detail was personal: the choice of camps, the timing of drives, the quiet moments in places others overlooked.
Word spread. Guests returned home with more than souvenirs , they brought back stories of elephants crossing rivers at sunrise, of dinners under a sky thick with stars, of conversations around campfires with people they’d never forget.
By the mid-1990s, Safari Pro had become known not for the most safaris, but for the most memorable safaris, trips that didn’t just show Africa, they connected you to it.
